What remains valuable when everything else is changing?

Audience connection, engagement and relevance today come down to participation in culture. But we don’t define culture as a cycle of here-today, gone-tomorrow trends.

We look instead to the values that cut across them, the human behaviours that have been with us all along: cultural practices of making, storytelling, creating, building, and attempting to understand the world around us and ourselves. These are the fixtures at the heart of audience interests today – and we believe they’ll become only more valuable in the future, as the only constants in an ever-changing world.

In a world obsessed with what’s next, we focus on what’s constant.

Aetia partners with brands, institutions and creative ventures to develop and articulate cultural positioning and storytelling. Our focus on what endures within culture helps our clients build sustained relevance, meaningful connection, and long-term growth.

Our Approach

Our process involves a continuous cycle of cultural observation, editorial direction, and real-world manifestation through creative production. At its centre lies the guiding question of what it means for brands, institutions and creative ventures to meaningfully engage with and interpret culture in contemporary society.

1 // RESEARCH

Research, ethnography, and cultural analysis. We immerse to uncover cultural ideas, patterns, practices, and connections that form the basis of cultural strategy.

2 // EDITORIAL DIRECTION

Story architecture, messaging, and content frameworks. We shape unique cultural narratives with partnerships at their centre and re-interpret them for a contemporary audience.

3 // CREATIVE PRODUCTION

Film, audio, editorial, and experience design and production. We craft and deliver multiformat, culturally-oriented work with our roster of hand-picked creatives.

At Our Helm

Founded by filmmaker, writer and director Issabella Orlando, Aetia grew from a fascination with the cultural worlds that exist beneath the surface of the things we make.

Through documentary filmmaking, editorial research and years spent working alongside artists, makers, brands and cultural organisations, Issabella developed an approach that looks beyond storytelling alone to uncover the people, practices and ideas that give work lasting meaning. Today, she leads Aetia's research, editorial direction and creative development, collaborating with a trusted network of filmmakers, strategists, writers and producers to bring each project to life.
